Local professional experience

Eric Larson's recent professional experience includes fire-destroyed property rebuilds in the Camarillo area and nearby Somis, as well as a Camarillo ADU. His regional work also includes new construction and post-fire deck reconstruction. Each assignment starts with the specific property and proposed improvements.

Fire rebuilding starts with the available record

Bring historical soils and geology reports, foundation plans, agency letters and the proposed rebuild plans. IGC compares the available information with current findings to define the additional investigation and recommendations needed.

An earlier report may provide useful background, but its recommendations must be considered against the current proposal. Foundation reuse and changes to the footprint need coordination with the design team.

An ADU needs a scope tied to its location

An ADU is a distinct proposed improvement. Its location, foundation concept and relationship to existing improvements help determine the geology and soils questions to evaluate.

Provide a site plan showing the proposed ADU, access and any related grading or retaining walls. IGC can coordinate the investigation scope with the architectural, civil and structural plans.

Reconstructed decks and site improvements

Replacing a fire-damaged deck can involve questions about its supports and surrounding ground, as well as the proposed replacement design.

The consulting scope should identify what existing information remains relevant and what must be evaluated. Recommendations are coordinated with the structural engineer; reuse of existing supports is not assumed.

Confirm city or county jurisdiction

A Camarillo mailing address alone does not establish the reviewing agency. Confirm whether the parcel is within the city or in an unincorporated area before setting the submittal scope.

Ventura County provides a Mountain Fire rebuilding resource and dedicated planning contacts. Use the applicable agency's current instructions for the parcel; rebuild allowances are not interchangeable between jurisdictions.

Start with the information you have

Send the parcel number or address, proposed plans, existing reports and agency correspondence. Tell us whether you are rebuilding, adding an ADU or changing other site improvements. We will use that information to define the investigation, reporting and construction support needed.

Investigation scope and fees follow review of the project information. Recommendations depend on the findings; this page does not determine a property's hazards or guarantee approval.
